Tibet: industrial construction of well-off demonstration villages in border areas

In recent years, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region has promoted the industrial construction of Zayul Farm and 628 well-off villages in 21 counties and 4 cities. Tibet Department of Agriculture & Rural Affairs has focused on industry construction of well-off villages and achieved significant results.

"At present, Yumai Village's industrial projects include vegetable greenhouse base, yak breeding, plateau organic tea planting, Tibetan bamboo processing and knitting, etc., which can help farmers and herdsmen find jobs nearby," says Dawa, party branch secretary of Yumai Township, Lhunze County, Shannan City, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

Tibet Department of Agriculture & Rural Affairs has closely focused on the development goals, and built the well-off industrial demonstration village to effectively drive local people to increase their income continually. Meanwhile, based on resource superiority, it has compiled Well-off Villages' Industrial Construction Plan in Border Areas of Tibet Autonomous Region (2017-2020), according to the basic conditions and spatial distribution of characteristic industries in border areas, and planned to invest 4.636 billion yuan RMB in developing planting, breeding, agricultural and animal products processing industry, ethnic handicraft industry, tourism, commerce circulation, resource development.

The government of Nyingchi City's Medog County has seized the favorable opportunity to build new tea gardens of 4.287 km². This year, Tibet continues to strengthen the development of modern agriculture and animal husbandry through training and guidance. Tibet Department of Agriculture & Rural Affairs strives to create excellent characteristic industrial belt and valley economic corridor and build a development model of "company + cooperative + base + inhabitants inborder areas", so that local people can deeply participate in industrial development as industrial workers.
