Tibet's first Stone Carving Art Museum opens

Recently, Xigaze Stone Carving Art Museum opens, which is the first professional museum with the theme of stone carving cultural heritage in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

The museum has two floors covering an area of about 450 ㎡, contains 5 different parts, collects a large number of Tibetan exquisite stone carvings from the 7th to 19th centuries A.D., such as stone tablets, stone inscriptions and statue steles and others, including exceeding 60 pieces of original and replicas of stone carvings, more than 30 rubbings, and over 20 pieces of stone carvings handicrafts, etc.

"Tibetan stone carvings are widely distributed and have a long history. These exquisite stone carvings combine historical, artistic and scientific values, which are the way to understand the excellent local traditional culture." says Kalwang, director of the stone carving art research center of Xigaze Bureau of Culture.
