Trade through Gyirong Port flourished in 2018

Trade volume through the border port of Gyirong in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region reached 3.405 billion yuan RMB, a year-on-year increase of 21.6 percent.

Gyirong Port is a major route for trade between China and Nepal. In 2017, the State Council approved Gyirong to be expanded as an international port. Currently, 26 business trade companies, seven custom brokers, seven logistics companies and two financial institutions have stationed in the port. In 2018, Gyirong Port attracted an investment of 360 million yuan RMB.

Preparation works for major projects have been basically completed till now, such as Gyirong Port tax-free shopping district, an international trade market for Chinese medicinal materials and agricultural products as well as starred hotels.

By now, Gyirong Port border trade market has got the approval from the People's Government of Tibet Autonomous Region. The opening of this border trade market will promote the development of mutual trade through the operation mode of "locals + cooperatives + enterprises".
