270, 000 rural Tibetan schoolchildren benifit from educational subsidies
  2010-Jan-21 Thu

Photo taken on Jan. 18, 2010, shows children discussing together their homework in Bomtoi Township, Dagze County, Lhasa, capital of Tibet.

In 2009, Tibet raised again the educational subsidies to rural school students for free food, accommodation, and basic stationary, with an annual subsidy reaching 1,800 yuan (285 U.S. dollars) per person. About 270,000 schoolchildren have benefited from this preferential policy since it began to be pursued in 1985.
