Thangka is a transliteration of Tibetan. It is a kind of religious scroll painting used for oblation by Tibetans. As a traditional painting, Thangka usually takes the contents of Tibetan history, religion, culture and social life.
In June 2006, Thangka got the certificate for national class intangible cultural relics, issued by the State Council and China Ministry of Culture.
The master Xirebu started learning Thangka painting from a child and has formed characteristic style. In 1998, the Thangka painting "Colored Drawing, Figure of the 10th Panchen Lama" produced by Xirebu captured the commemorative award of Guinness.
In recent years, Thangka works of the master Xirebu becomes popular among collectors and also treasured by some famous monasteries of Tibetan Buddhism.
Organized by the Chinese Cultural Art Association of Macao and Guangdong Chinese Culture Promotion, the exhibition "Hugging Auspicious" will last for 14 days.
