'Winter tours in Tibet' booms

Thanks to preferential policies for tourists, Tibet's tourism booms even in the off-peak season. From January to February, Nearly 775,300 visitors traveled to Tibet, up 45.9 percent from the previous year. Revenues generated by tourism reached 868 million yuan (about $138 million) with a year-on-year increase of 39.9 percent.

Tibet has launched the initiative of "winter tours in Tibet-enjoy the world's third pole" since February 1st. During that time, A-class tourist attractions in the region open to visitors for free. Besides, the preferential policies also cover transportation and accommodation.
