According to Liu Hongchun, deputy director of  the Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau of Tibet Autonomous Region, Tibet plans to build the China-South Asia Standardization Research Center this year, which will promote the internationalization of China standardization, and let the technology, equipment, engineering and service "go out".

Standardizationis the universal language of the world. The popularization of standardization is conductive to international exchange of goods as well as expanding the cooperation of  knowledge, science, technology, economic and trade. Liu Hongchun says, "China-South Asia Standardization Research Center is mainly oriented to South Asian countries with the aim of strengthening the cooperation in fields such as regional standardization activities, mutual recognition of standardization, and the protection of geographical indication products."

In recent years, Tibet's management level of standardization has been improved by promoting the strategic position of standardization and improving the working mechanism. During the 12th Five-Year Plan period, a batch of local standards including staple crops, characteristic livestock and poultry, and Tibetan incense are unveiled. The number of local standards in Tibet has reached 91 and 28 are listed as geographical indication products.

At present, a consensus is reached by the Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau of Tibet Autonomous Region and relevant institutions of Nepal. In addition, ideas are exchanged in the field of standardization. Tibet will strengthen cooperation with Nepal and promote the South Asia standardization research.

Bordering on many countries and areas including Nepal and India, Tibet is an important trade route between China and South Asia countries since the ancient times. According to the 13th Five-Year Plan, Tibet will further promote economic, trade, technical and cultural exchanges with Nepal, India and other countries.
