Qing Dynasty, costume and adornment

This set of costume was made of tweed (sNam-bu). Most of monk costumes are made of tweed, but they are various in quality. Costumes worn by monk officials are usually sown with fine and soft tweed, but ordinary monks usually wear costumes made of coarse tweed. Officials in the Local Government of Tibet could be classified into two types: monk and lay officials. Usually, rDzong-dpons (county magistrates) consisted of one monk and one lay official, however, monk officials had greater power than lay officials, but monk officials were fewer in number.
