The annual Damxung Horse Race Festival, also known as "Dangjiren" (means grand get-together), is scheduled to start on August 21 in Lhasa. Lasting for 7 days, the horse race festival will be ended on August 27. The festival will be celebrated with horse racing, yak racing, Gorchom circle dance, equestrianism performance, track and field competitions and etc. The Damxung Horse Race Festival, started in the 17th century, is held annually in July according to Tibetan Calendar. It is one of the Tibetan festivals that falls on the most comfortable season with longest duration. |
